MAHWAH, NJ — A man was arrested after police found more than 2 pounds of marijuana edibles, THC oil, LSD tablets, and other illicit and prescription medication during a traffic stop on Interstate 287 Saturday, police said.

Michael Occhipimti, 29, of Waldwick was arrested on several drug possession and drug distribution charges said Chief James Batelli.

Police stopped the vehicle Occhipimti was in for several motor vehicle violations on Rt. 287 South and smelled marijuana were coming from inside it, Batelli said.

Occhipimti admitted smoking marijuana earlier in the day and gave the police some marijuana he had on him, the chief said.

Police still smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle, Batelli said, and Occhipimti did not want to get out of the vehicle and claimed the smell was coming from passing vehicles.

Police found a backpack with several large bags of vegetation believed to be marijuana, pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, more than 2 pounds of marijuana, two bags of a white powder believe to be cocaine, LSD tablets, several THC oil packages, vape pens, Xanax and Amphetamine pills, a scale, and hundreds of small plastic baggies commonly used to packaged and distribute controlled dangerous substances.

Occhipimti was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and other drug possession charges. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail.
