TOPEKA, KS – A homicide investigation is underway into the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a Hi-Crest home early Monday afternoon.

According to the Topeka Police Dept., officers responded around 12:15 p.m. to reports of unknown trouble at the home. There they found the bodies of a 17-year-old young man and a 28-year-old woman. Police say both were gravely injured. AMR personnel responded and pronounced both subjects dead at the scene.

Police are not releasing their names until next of kin is notified. Investigators have not said how either of them died.

A TPD spokesperson, Lt. Andrew Beightel, said authorities do not believe there is any threat to the community.

The road in front of the home, at 3451 SE Girard St., is expected to be closed for hours while investigators work the crime scene.
