More than 200 pounds of marijuana were located Monday morning in a U-Haul trailer near 147th and West Center Road by the Douglas County Nebraska Sheriff’s Office, department officials said in a news release.
A deputy stopped a silver Nissan Armada with Pennsylvania license plates around 5:45 a.m.
While he was speaking with the driver — later identified as David M. Leslie, 53, of Cucamonga, California — Leslie began acting suspiciously, according to the deputy. Leslie denied consent to search the vehicle, so the deputy deployed his K-9, which alerted the deputy to the presence of illegal narcotics.
Approximately 210 pounds of marijuana were found in heat-sealed bundles in the trailer.
Leslie was traveling to St. Paul, Minnesota, from Reno, Nevada, according to the release. He was booked for possession of more than one pound of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, according to the release.
