HOUSTON: Drivers are advised to stay off the roads if at all possible. METRO has closed all HOV and HOT lanes at this time.
Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) and Fort Bend Toll Road will waive tolls across the system from 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, through 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, due to inclement wintry conditions. Officials encourage drivers to stay off the road if possible; however, for those who must drive, please drive cautiously.
Houston METRO announced it will suspend bus service through Wednesday morning. Park and Ride routes and METRO HOV/HOT lanes will be closed the entire day and METROLift trips for Wednesday are cancelled.

Motorists are being advised to stay at home if possible. If you have to drive, remember these tips from the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management:
- Always buckle your seatbelt.
- Turn on your lights to increase your visibility to other motorists.
- Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.
- Don’t use cruise control or overdrive on icy roads.
- Be especially careful on bridges and overpasses.
- Know your vehicle and how it operates. Not all cars respond the same to slippery roads.
