Millennials and Baby boomers have a completely different type of taste, While one is tech-savvy the other likes to keep things old school. Despite being a millennial and having everything in their palm of their hands Millennials are minimalists; they like to have everything right there and then. Technology has to be fast and up-to-date, so it’s only natural to have the greatest gadgets in their new homes. The professionals at Property Records created a list of things Millenials are not interested in when it comes to buying a house.
If you’re looking to attract these youngsters you will need to step your game up in a different type of way.
Landscaping that is too much
Millennials are the only generation that prefers low-cut landscape and while having indoor plants. The over-the-top landscape will scare off and overwhelm Millennials. When staging an open house make sure to have small plants all over the house, this will show the house is green-friendly and welcoming.
“Thr more simple the house and tech-savvy it is the more it will attract young buyers. Remove old furniture and outdated flooring. Instead, install smart appliances, this will make life any easier for these young buyers” says, Thomas Hayes from QTMS Real Estate LLC located in downtown Los Angeles, California
Dining Room
While baby boomers cared about shelves full of fine china plates and family pictures millenials, on the other hand, want something simple yet comfortable. The dining room isn’t used like it was used back a few decades; it’s used more of a simple room.
“Dining rooms are becoming less and less popular over the years, it’s one of those things that you decorate it and leave it. I hope nice dining rooms into style in the future because I really like them” says, Pablo Ramirez from Ramirez Reak Estate Sales in San Diego, California.
Designer Floor Plan
The older generation might want a nice floor-plan with a dining room that led to the kitchen and has a view of the backyard but these days floor plans are changing. Millennials want wide-open floors to plan to multitask.
“Every generation has a different taste, I like to see how things change over the years and how old floor plans that were left behind are becoming cool again. This is why I love real estate” says Christopher Kennedy from Cerritos, CA.
Carpeting or Hardwood floors
A nice fluffy carpet will bring out the home sweer home in any house. A light color carpet will bring out the color in any home. The hardwood will make it easy it clean when the homeowners have pets like dogs and cats.
Both are great and have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Game Rooms
If there us anything that Millennials like besides smart gadgets are vintage games and this is why game rooms will help you sell Millennials. Home theater rooms became popular after the ‘mans cave’ became such a hit back in the 1980s. Game rooms consist of a large television, vintage and new game consoles, comfortable couches, pop snack machines, and of course a few smart gadgets.
“Game rooms are the newer versions of our dad’s man cave, but a bit more simple of course. Game rooms are great times for Millennials” says, Kennedy.
