PHILADELPHIA, PA — Skeletal remains of a two-year-old girl were found buried in a shallow grave in a Philadelphia park Tuesday, authorities said.

The child’s caregiver led police to Kemble Park, near the intersection of Olney Avenue and Ogontz Avenue, where the body was discovered.

The child, who has not been identified, is believed to be a girl who had been reported missing on Monday afternoon. It’s not clear how long she had been missing for.

The grave was shallow enough that the top of the victim’s head was exposed, police said.

The death is being listed as a homicide, but further details had not been made available.

The child’s caregiver is in police custody as a suspect, and police said that they are trying to locate the child’s parents. The investigation remains ongoing.

Kemble Park is located near Central High School and La Salle University.
