The 47th annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weight-Off was held virtually in Half Moon Bay, California last October 12, 2020.
The champion, Travis Grangier, grew his pumpkin to a gargantuan 2,350-pound pumpkin. He named his pumpkin Tiger King and told the Epoch times at the peak of growth,” it was growing 53 pounds a day, and was 1,000 pounds in 20 days.”

Grangier said good genetics played a large role. He started from the seed which came from a 1,500-pounder from Wisconsin.
The 2nd place winner, Steve Daletas from Pleasant Hill, Oregon, had a pumpkin weighing 2,174 lbs. He said that Pumpkins are getting heavier and bigger every year that he needs to get creative to get the pumpkins on trucks.

Daletas has been a champion four times, the most recent one was 2018.
The pumpkin will be on exhibition at the New York Botanical Garden .
